Win Rate Calculator

The win rate calculator computes your trading win percentage from the number of winning and losing trades. Win rate alone does not determine profitability — but it is a crucial input for expectancy, position sizing (Kelly Criterion), and evaluating whether your trading system has a mathematical edge.

Win Rate

55.00%

Loss Rate

45.00%

Total Trades

100

Win/Loss Ratio (trades)

1.22

How to use this calculator

  1. 1

Enter the number of winning trades

Count only closed trades that ended in a profit.

  2. 2

Enter the number of losing trades

Count all trades that ended in a loss, including breakeven trades treated as losses.

  3. 3

    Read your win rate

The percentage of trades you win. Use this in the Expectancy Calculator and Kelly Criterion Calculator.

Formula

Win Rate % = (Wins ÷ Total Trades) × 100

Total Trades = Wins + Losses
Loss Rate % = 100 − Win Rate %

Divide the number of winning trades by the total number of trades and multiply by 100. A 55% win rate means you win 55 out of every 100 trades. Note: win rate alone is meaningless without knowing average win and average loss sizes — a 30% win rate can be profitable with a 1:3+ R:R ratio.

Worked Example

Month of trading: Winning trades: 33 Losing trades: 27 Total trades: 60 Win Rate = 33 ÷ 60 × 100 = 55% Loss Rate = 45% Win/Loss ratio = 33 ÷ 27 = 1.22 With a 55% win rate, check your average win vs average loss in the Expectancy Calculator to confirm this is a positive expectancy system.
